Falahari Raw Banana Kofta
Ingredients (Koftas) :
Raw Banana - 500 gmKuttu Atta (Buckwheat) / Singhara Atta (Water chestnut) - 4 tbsp
Home made Cottage Cheese (grated) / Chhena - 1/2 cup
Almonds (chopped) - 1 tbsp
Cashew Nuts (chopped) - 1 tbsp
Rock Salt (Sendha Namak) - 1 tsp
Black Pepper (crushed) - 1/2 tsp
Coriander Leaves (chopped) - 2 tbsp
Green Chilly (chopped) - 1 tsp
Lemon - 1
Peanut Oil for frying
Ingredients (Gravy) :
Curd - 1 cupKuttu Atta (Buckwheat) / Singhara Atta (Water chestnut) - 3 tbsp
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Green Chilly (slit) - 3-4
Desi Ghee / Peanut Oil - 2 tbsp
Coriander leaves - 1 tbsp
Rock Salt (Sendha Namak) - 1/2 tsp
Method (Koftas) :
1. Cut off the edges on both ends and peel the outer layer of the bananas2. Boil the bananas in pressure cooker for 2 whistles
3. Let the bananas cool
4. Peel the boiled bananas. (The peels can be used to make a tasty banana peel subzi)
5. Grate the bananas
6. Add 1/2 tsp rock salt, 1/2 tsp crushed black pepper, 1 tbsp coriander leaves
7. For binding add Kuttu / Singhara atta
8. Now mix all these ingredients nicely to make a smooth dough
9. Take cottage cheese in a bowl and add almonds, cashews, 1 tsp green chilly, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tbsp coriander leaves and squeeze the lemon in it
10. Mix the ingredients of filling nicely
11. Divide the banana dough into lemon size balls
12. Take a ball and press it in between your palm
13. Now place little filling in it and close it from all sides to again give it a round shape
14. Similarly make all the koftas
15. Heat Oil for frying
16. Deep fry the koftas on medium heat till golden brown
17. Take them out on a plate lined with tissue paper and keep aside
Method (Gravy) :
1. Take curd in a bowl and whisk it till smooth
2. Add kuttu or singhara atta
3. Mix very well
4. Add 1 cup water and whisk the whole mixture very well.
5. Heat ghee / oil in a pan
6. Add cumin seeds and let them crackle
7. Add green chilly and saute for a minute
8. Lower the flame and then add the curd mixture
9. Add rock salt and stir very well
10. Simmer the gravy by stirring in between, till the gravy thickens
11. Place the Koftas in a serving plate
12. Pour hot gravy over the koftas
13. Garnish with coriander leaves
14. Serve Falahari Banana Kofta Curry with Sama Pulao, Sama Khichdi, Rajgira Paratha, Kuttu Poori, Singhara Pooris
