Spicy Tofu Chilli Recipe | Indo-Chinese Restaurant Style at Home

Spicy Tofu Chilli



Ingredients:

🥡 Tofu – 200 gm
🛢️ Oil – 2 tbsp
🌶️ Green chilies (finely chopped) – 1 tsp
🧄 Garlic (finely chopped) – 1 tsp
🫚 Ginger (grated) – 1 tsp
🫑 Capsicum (cubed) – 1 (medium size)
🧅 Onion (cubed) – 1 (big size)
🍅 Tomato sauce – 1 tbsp
🌶️🔥 Chilli sauce – 1 tbsp
🥢 Soya sauce – 1 tbsp
🍶 Vinegar – 1 tbsp
🌶️🧂 Red chili powder – 1/2 tsp
Black pepper powder – 1/4 tsp
🧂 Salt – 1 tsp

Method:

🧊 Prepare the Tofu

  1. Take tofu and press it with a heavy object for about 30 minutes to remove excess water.

  2. Once drained, chop the tofu into square pieces.

🍳 Fry the Tofu

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.

  2. Fry the tofu pieces until they turn light golden brown.

  3. Remove the tofu and set aside on a plate.

🧄 Sauté Aromatics & Veggies

  1. In the same pan (with remaining oil), add finely chopped green chilies, garlic, and grated ginger.

  2. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

  3. Add cubed capsicum and onion. Stir-fry for 2 minutes until slightly softened.

🥣 Add Sauces & Spices

  1. Add tomato sauce, chili sauce, soy sauce, and vinegar.

  2. Mix in red chili powder and black pepper. Stir well to combine everything.

🥡 Combine & Cook

  1. Add the fried tofu back to the pan and toss gently to coat all pieces with the sauce.

  2. Add 1 tsp salt (or to taste) and stir-fry everything on high flame for about a minute.

🔥 Finish & Serve

  1. Turn off the heat.

  2. Serve hot and enjoy your Tofu Chilli with rice, noodles, or as a snack!
