Lobia Kebabs - Black Eyed Bean Patties
Lobia Kebabs
Ingredients:
Black Eyed Beans (Lobia) - 1 cup
Instant Oats (rolled and powdered) - 1/4 cup
Onion (finely chopped) - 1/2 cup
Green capsicum (finely chopped) - 1/2 cup
Green Chillies (finely chopped) - 2
Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsp
Garlic clove (finely chopped) - 1
Red Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Cumin powder (Jeera) - 1 tsp
Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Extra Virgin Olive Oil - 1 tsp
Instant Oats (rolled and powdered) - 1/4 cup

Garlic clove (finely chopped) - 1
Red Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Cumin powder (Jeera) - 1 tsp
Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Extra Virgin Olive Oil - 1 tsp
Method:
1. Wash the black-eyed beans well and soak with fresh water overnight.2. Boil the beans in pressure cooker for 3 whistles
3. Allow the pressure cooker to cool off naturally. Once cooled, drain the excess water and keep the beans aside.
4. Powder the rolled oats in a grinder and keep this ready.
5. Add the cooked beans to a bowl, keeping a few tablespoons aside.
6. Mash the beans using a potato masher or a fork.
7. Add powdered oats, finely chopped onion, garlic, fresh coriander, green capsicum and the unmashed beans together in a large mixing bowl.
8. Mix well, adding salt to taste, cumin powder, red chili powder and garam masala powder.
9. Divide the mixture into medium patty size portions of 2-inch thickness and diameter.
10. Heat a skillet on medium heat. Add a teaspoon or two of oil, spread this all over the skillet
11. Place the shaped black eyed bean kebabs on the skillet.
5. Add the cooked beans to a bowl, keeping a few tablespoons aside.
6. Mash the beans using a potato masher or a fork.
7. Add powdered oats, finely chopped onion, garlic, fresh coriander, green capsicum and the unmashed beans together in a large mixing bowl.
8. Mix well, adding salt to taste, cumin powder, red chili powder and garam masala powder.
9. Divide the mixture into medium patty size portions of 2-inch thickness and diameter.
10. Heat a skillet on medium heat. Add a teaspoon or two of oil, spread this all over the skillet
11. Place the shaped black eyed bean kebabs on the skillet.
12. Drizzle a few drops of oil all around the kebab. Cook the kebabs on medium heat.
13. After about 2-3 minutes or after the under-side turns brown, flip carefully using a flat spatula.
14. Again, cook for 2-3 minutes or until brown and crisp on both sides.
15. Transfer the Black-Eyed Bean Kebabs to an absorbent paper towel. Repeat the same process with the rest of the mixture.
